Some movies I would put in the discussion: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Die Hard, Terminator 2, The Dark Knight, and The Avengers are all deserving of that conversation. Some movies do some things better than The Raid 2, and The Raid certainly does a lot of things better than a lot of other movies.

Well I don't want to explicitly say that X movie is better than The Raid 2, because I think that the question of better is problematic. Im excited to see what this director (Gareth Evans) can do for the next film, given a higher budget and more experience. I didn't notice the recycling until the third viewing so they did that really well. In The Raid: Redemption, characters had large stamina or actors were recycled because of a low budget. I don't currently know the budget for The Raid 2, but it has obviously increased based on the cinematic detail and the amount of actors. He definitely did the best he could do with his budget. That is insanely low and the director is a financial genius. The budget for the first film is $1.1 million. I liked that little detail a lot and it added a flow and a harmony to the two films. It was also nice to see that the sequel picks up right where the original film left off. It's kind of rough and made me sit uneasy (kind of funny because I complain about this and not the gore). I get the fact that it added a dark tone to the film, but I felt it was unnecessary as well as the almost rape scene. Or I could summarize in two words: Dildo Girl). There were a few scenes which were totally unnecessary (if you see it, you'll know what I mean.

It is a super violent film, so I'll leave that to your discretion I wouldn't recommend the film to everyone. The fighting was awesome and I believe the main character has potential to be the next Bruce Lee. It's something that a martial artist would enjoy severely. The fighting was fantastic and had a very awesomely balanced mix of hand-to-hand, knife (specifically karambit), auto pursuit, close quarters, and just all out chaos. So the subtitles had to be changed to fit the film and it's rough to be stuck reading a beautiful film like it was. I feel like half of my opinion of the dialogue is because I don't speak Japanese or Indonesian (if that is what they spoke). It was kind of a mix of gang wars and undercover cop stuff and a revenge story all in one. Personally, I feel like the film lacked a quality dialogue but had a very interesting plot. It was like the idea that this man is dying because this selfish man wants a war. It was snowy and peaceful and it just felt off. In fact, the best scene I can think of is when (SPOILER) the actor who played Mad Dog in the first film died.

Throughout the spanse of the movie, it remained crisp and entertaining to watch. Part of my reasoning for this is the cinematography and action sequences. In my honest opinion, it is the best action movie ever made. The movie was a whole new level for action movies. So I saw the raid 2 today and I was absolutely amazed. WowĮdit (to give my opinions): Personal Review Honestly, the best action movie ever made.
